What you'll learn

Understand emission sources and Scope 1/2/3 across industrial sectors
Apply decarbonisation levers: electrification, hydrogen, CCS, efficiency
Build a carbon abatement cost curve for an industrial facility
Evaluate the economics of clean energy transition
Design a credible net-zero transition roadmap
Pitch a decarbonisation strategy to operations and C-suite audiences

Requirements

  • Interest in energy, climate, or industrial operations
  • A laptop with internet access

About this course

The industrial sector accounts for nearly a quarter of global carbon emissions — and decarbonising it is one of the defining engineering challenges of our time. This course puts you in the seat of an industrial engineer, operations leader, or sustainability strategist tasked with cutting emissions without cutting output. You'll work through real-world decarbonisation problems, apply engineering and financial analysis, and pitch a credible transition plan.

Course curriculum

24 lessons
  • Which industries emit the most and why they're hard to abate
  • Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in industrial contexts
  • Net-zero commitments and what they actually require
  • Case study: decarbonising a steel plant
