PitchX
Futred Interdisciplinary Innovation Sprint Program
The Context: Why Interdisciplinary Innovation Is Now Essential
Global industry is being reshaped by AI, automation, climate pressure, and platform economies. Routine technical tasks are increasingly automated, while value creation is shifting toward complex problem-solving, interdisciplinary thinking, and innovation-led execution.
FUTURE-READY GRADUATES
Multiple global reports (WEF Future of Jobs, OECD skills outlook, UN SDG innovation frameworks) consistently highlight that future-ready graduates must be able to:
Work across disciplines, not in silos but in team
Solve ambiguous, real-world problems to seek meaningful solutions
Combine technical, business, social, and sustainability thinking with universal human values
Communicate and pitch solutions, not just build them.
Translate ideas into viable, implementable models
Traditional domain-only programs are no longer enough. Students must experience structured interdisciplinary innovation practice during their study journey.
PitchX is designed as Futred's flagship interdisciplinary innovation sprint to address exactly this gap.
What Is PitchX
PitchX is a 60-hour, six-week, part-time, blended innovation sprint where interdisciplinary student teams solve large, real-world global challenges and present implementable solutions in a Shark Tank–style final pitch.
It is not a standard classroom module. It is a guided innovation lab experience.

PitchX vs SolveX — Clear Positioning Difference
Stakeholders must clearly understand that PitchX is not a replacement for domain training programs like SolveX — it is a complementary, higher-level innovation layer.
SolveX
(Domain Deep Dive Model)
- Domain-specific
- Skill and workplace task focused
- Technical or functional training
- Assessment based on domain outputs
PitchX
(Interdisciplinary Innovation Model)
- Interdisciplinary by design
- Innovation and systems thinking focused
- Solves large, global, multi-factor problems
- Combines technology + business + policy + sustainability + society
- Ends in a venture-style pitch
- Mix of hackathon energy, design thinking structure, and Shark Tank format
SolveX builds capability. PitchX builds innovation mindset.
Nature of Problems Addressed in PitchX
PitchX problems are intentionally large-scale and system-level, often aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals and global transformation themes.
Examples include:
Decarbonizing tourism ecosystems
Sustainable coastal economies
AI for rural healthcare access
Climate-resilient infrastructure models
Financial inclusion through digital platforms
Circular economy innovation
Smart agriculture ecosystems
Ethical AI deployment models
Future energy transition frameworks
These problems require multiple disciplines working together.
Pedagogy Framework Under PitchX
PitchX uses a structured innovation framework rather than open-ended brainstorming.
Core Learning Frameworks Used:
Design Thinking
- Problem discovery
- Stakeholder mapping
- Insight generation
- Solution ideation
- Prototype logic
- Feedback loops
Systems Thinking
- Root-cause mapping
- Multi-variable interaction
- Constraint analysis
- Impact modeling
Innovation Convergence Framework
- Diverge: explore widely across disciplines
- Synthesize: connect insights
- Converge: build implementable solution
Evidence + Feasibility Layer
Students justify technical feasibility, economic viability, social acceptance, environmental impact, and policy alignment.
